Types of gin

1. London dry
London dry is most accepted and famous gin of all times. Many gin fans consider London dry as the only existing gin. It tastes bitter which has made it famous all around the globe. London dry is not necessarily made it London. It is very dry and light bodied. London dry gin can be used to make a large number of cocktails.
2. Old tom
Old tom gin becomes amazingly popular in 1700s. Old tom gin cannot be the only one. It can made from multigrain or any agricultural product. It is sweetened and is a lot of juniper to make it drinkable. The only difference between London dry and old tom is that old tom is sweetened version of London dry. But when it comes to all modern gins old tom is neglected like poor middle child. It is famous to be served with soda water and tonic.
Jenever is a Dutch name for juniper. It is a blend of malt wine and neutral spirits. The base ingredients here are maize and rye. Jenever is specifically produced in Holland and Belgium. It is different from other gins since it has dark color and aromatic flavor. Jenever is one of the ancient style of gin. There are four styles of jenever which differ from each other on the bases of botanicals and mulled wine percentage. Jenever is enjoyed when served ice chilled.
Plymouth is a less dry gin belonging to the family of London dry. Plymouth must be made in Plymouth, England. It have less crisp flavor and has flavor of its root ingredients. Plymouth is a classical gin. It is liked by fans when served chill.
5. Bombay sapphire
Bombay sapphire was launched by wine merchant IDV. The ingredients include juniper berries, lemon peel, almond, lime etc. Bombay sapphire can be used to make excellent martinis. Bombay sapphire is extra smooth and has perfectly balanced taste.
A fabulous gin for fabulous drinks. Aviation is an American gin which has got attention after late Ryan Reynolds. Since it has less strong juniper it is named as ‘American dry gin.’

What is gin made of?
Distilled gin is produced exclusively by redistilling ethanol of agricultural origin with an initial strength of 96% ABV in stills traditionally used for gin, in the presence of juniper berries and of other natural botanicals, provided that the juniper taste is predominant.
Is gin and vodka the same?
