Baking powder biscuits
Flour | 2 cups | |
Baking powder | 1 Tbsp. | |
Salt | 1 tsp. | |
Milk | 2/3 cup |
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. In a big mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Working easily with your fingertips, incorporate the butter into the flour to form a coarse mealy texture.
- Add just enough milk to combine all of the ingredients into a shaggy mass. It’s possible that you’ll need to use more or less milk than the recipe specifies.
- Remove the dough to a floured work surface and knead for a few seconds to smooth it out. If you over knead your biscuits, they will become tough.
- Roll out to about a 3/4-inch thickness. Using a floured glass or a biscuit cutter, break the dough into circles.
- Brush the rounds with milk or melted butter and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Place in the oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the top is browned. Serve right away.
